Google Cloud Next is an annual conference hosted by Google Cloud that showcases the company’s latest innovations, products, and strategies in cloud computing.
Our goal was to conceptualize a revolutionary app experience enhanced by (IoT) technology. As the lead visual designer, I developed high-fidelity visuals and animations for both mobile and tablet devices, transforming rough sketches into polished assets for a pitch to Google.
My role involved using Google’s brand, assets, and design system to craft an experience that resonated with the Google team and demonstrated our understanding of their objectives for the conference. I translated sketches and concepts from the lead interaction designer into high-quality visual assets and animations, creating a compelling pitch presentation for both mobile and tablet interfaces.
I collaborated with the team to define how technology could enhance the conference experience. We had a lot of collaborative sessions and workshops around the story we wanted to tell and experience we wanted to build. I reviewed initial sketches the team created and identified key features to emphasize in the visual assets.
The sketches highlighted cards as the key interaction point of most of the experiences, so I used them as a basis for exploring concepts.
I created designs and animations for both mobile and tablet devices. This included developing interactive prototypes and detailed animations to highlight key touchpoints in our vision for the conference.
For the session builder, we explored clever ways to present smart schedule creation while also providing developers a sandbox to tweak the underlying code.
The session view and schedule was the most important part of the experience, and would be the main application we would build if we won the pitch. I explored different ways to break up the timeline visually, while keeping the experience user friendly and straightforward. Additionally, I wanted to make sure that Google-style animations and easing were incorporated to make the experience more dynamic and visually appealing.
Without going into the design of the full experience, I illustrated concepts to show how augmented reality could enhance wayfinding at the conference, making navigation more intuitive and engaging for attendees.
We envisioned Google Assistant as a key tool for attendees, offering real-time support and personalized guidance throughout the conference.
I created designs for push notifications, floating action buttons, and menu navigation to help illustrate a holistic view of the user experience.
The visuals and animations I created greatly enhanced the pitch presentation, effectively showcasing a modern conference experience. The high-fidelity designs clearly demonstrated the app’s advanced features and their potential impact. The pitch was well-received, highlighting alignment with Google’s vision and its ability to leverage IoT technology for an awesome conference experience.
